secret weapons: kv-vi behemoth

Whilst undertaking some research for Geheimkrieg: Ost I came across some information on secret Soviet tank designs including the huegly impressive KV-VI Behemoth

Unfortunately its operational history was not as spectacular as its looks: "The first prototype was completed in December 1941 and was rushed into the defense of Moscow. In its first action during a dense winter fog, the rear turret accidentally fired into the center turret. The resulting explosion completely destroyed the vehicle. The second prototype was completed in January 1942, and was sent to the Leningrad front. This one had indicators installed to show when another turret was in the line of fire. In its initial attack on the Germans, the tank broke in half when crossing a ravine."

Crew: 15 men and one Commissar. The KV-VI was nicknamed "Stalin's Orchestra" by the few Germans that encountered it because of the variety of weapons it deployed."

Modeler Brian Fowler made an impressive 1/35th model which he describes here. It may serve to inspire some of you to make your own Behemoth in 20mm or 15mm...

secret history: telepathic nazi dogs

A variety of news sources are reporting on Dr Bondeson's research into Nazi attempts to train dogs to 'talk' telepathically and undertake vital war work. Read more here.

miniatures: blue moon manufacturing

Not quite sure whether these would be of any use in Geheimkrieg, but Blue Moon Manufacturing produce an interesting set of 14 Zombie WWII characters including Roosevelt, Hitler, Patton, Stalin, Goering, De Gaulle, Montgomery, Mao, Himmler, Yamamoto, Rommel, Eisenhower, Churchill and Mussolini...

miniatures: pendraken miniatures

This blog entry on Javier at War caught my eye using the 10mm Pendraken dungeon set and various manufacturers 10mm models for a Castle Wolfenstein style game. Great for a small game if you have limited space, Geheimkrieg can easily be used for this sort of game by designating specific spaces or tiles in place of terrain squares with its non-measured movement system.

miniatures: majic miniatures

6mm has traditionally been a popular scale for WW2 games over the years but not so much for WWW2. However Majic Miniatures have stepped into the breach with an interesting range of 1/285th models including Nazi UFO's Amerika bombers and Gear Krieg style walkers, as well as zombies and US and German super troops and rocketeers. John Lambshead has painted up a nice Amerika bomber here.

Majic also produce an interesting looking game called UFO Interception, the original game setting a P-51 against the Roswell UFO, the follow up a P-61A Black Widow against three foo fighters over the Rhineland.

miniatures: tqd castings

Continuing with 20mm Weird War Two, TQD Castings 1946 range is available from C-P Models and includes several blisters of infantry armed with late war and experimental weapons in the M1956 Stalhelm that was designed during the war but not worn until the creation of the Nationale Volksarmee in 1956. The Nachtjadgkommando with infra-red weapons are especially nice.
